Trouble swallowing (dysphagia), hoarseness, or changes in voice tone that last for weeks may be caused by tumors in the throat, esophagus, or lungs.
Common Cancers Associated:
- Esophageal cancer
- Laryngeal (voice box) cancer
- Thyroid or mediastinal tumors
Associated Symptoms:
- Choking or coughing while eating
- Weight loss due to food aversion
- Neck swelling
Evaluation Includes:
- Endoscopy with biopsy
- Laryngoscopy
- CT/MRI scans
Onco Surgery Role:
Surgical approaches like esophagectomy, laryngectomy, or thyroidectomy may be required, often followed by reconstruction or voice rehabilitation as needed.
